The History of the Aloe Vera FarmThe farm was established in 1997 and has been producing high-quality aloe vera products for decades now, named Curaloe. The Aloe Vera Farm covers 150 acres and it is home to around 100.000 aloe vera plants. Only 3 out of 300 aloe vera species are safe for consumption and non-poisonous. They therefore only use the Barbadensis Miller plant. The farm also helps with sustainable agriculture on the island as they avoid the use of harmful pesticides and chemicals
A guided tour of the Aloe Vera FarmVisitors of the Aloe Vera Farm can take a guided tour at 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. A guide will take you through the plant-to-bottle process. They will show you the factory where the gel is extracted from the leaves and made into the products. The leaves can produce around 750 ml gel per leave so they can make a lot of products. The aloe vera is harvested once, sometimes twice, a month. This is an extra special event and should not be missed! Furthermore, the guide will give you a tour around the farm and gives information about the properties of the plant and how the farm came to be.
Aloe vera products available at the On-site storeAs indicated earlier, products are made from aloe vera plants. This concerns both care products such as body lotion, shampoo and day creams, but the gel is also used in their drinks. The plant has many healing properties and contains many vitamins and amino acids which makes it an ideal base. They sell their products both in the on-site store and online. In addition, they sell not only in Curaçao but all over the world.
Conclusion: a natural gem in the heart of CuraçaoThe Aloe Vera Farm is a natural gem and should be added to your to-do list when visiting the island. You will learn about the many benefits of aloe vera and you will get a behind-the-scenes look at how Curaloe makes its product from start to finish. To end the day and process all the information from the farm, you can take a refreshing dip at one of the many beaches that Curaçao has to offer.
